The best thing you can do now is practice. Watch a 3-5 minute clip from an action film on YouTube 4 times such as

clip from Stormbreakers
Start: 03:10 Finish: 08:40
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXtj84XgBnw&feature=related

I have embedded this clip in the blog post below this one. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WATCH THE WHOLE TEN MINUTES!!! Start at 03:10 (races away on bike) and finish at 08:40 (fight scene ends and he rides away)

Whilst you are watching make notes on the 3 questions you have to answer in the exam.

1. Explain 2 ways in which the characters or events fit the Action Adventure genre (two PEE paragraphs) [10 marks]

2. Explain how the camerawork, editing, soundtrack and mise en scene fit the Action Adventure genre (One PEE paragraph on each of the four elements, 4 paragraphs in total) [20 marks]

3. Discuss the representation of people, places and events in the sequence. Refer to stereotypes in your answer. (four PEE paragraphs) [20 marks]

Then try to answer the questions in the time limit, 45 minutes total (without watching the clip again!). That is exactly what you will have to do in the exam. If you do that I will mark it for you and can give you some advice on what you are doing well and how you could improve.

In total this exercise would only take you one hour and 15 minutes to complete and you will get a great deal better at doing the exam by practicing.
